This is a great interactive book for young children to engage with, as it provides many opportunities to lift flaps and fold out pages.
Strong links can be made to maths and science, as children could be introduced to units of measure, scale, habitats and capacity. Water play could be used here to develop the children's understanding (e.g. use different shapes/sizes of containers, measure certain amounts of water).
Topic based work around the seaside or sea creatures (e.g. build knowledge on whales - different breeds, size, food).
Book is very simplistic with language choices, sentence structures and story line - perhaps get children to read parts of the book. It also has themes like changes and growth, which can be explored.
